It was a morning of firsts for Time Out Photos, it was our first official shoot and the first time shooting in a poorly lit pool.
It’s pretty hard to get ready to do anything at 6:00 a.m., but putting together a photoshoot in a place you’ve never been, and a sport you’ve never shot before was a fun challenge. The PVAC Masters Swim team was gracious enough to allow us to test out a new world. With awesome results!
Going into the shoot, I kinda forgot about the water. Yeah… I know, hear me out. Once I got home and I started to go through the 400 or so photos, I started to see that this wasn’t just a shoot about the swimmers. The water itself is alive in the pool. You just don’t see how it pulls and pushes and engulfs the athletes with the naked eye. The water has a personality.
The athletes in the pool are not professionals, they are here at 6:00 A.M. on a Friday because they love the sport, they love the constant fight with the water.
